Visa
From many countries you will not need a visa in order to enter Germany for a maximum stay of 90 days without taking up an employment. Please check on the webpage of the Federal Foreign Office for the regulations regarding your country.
Travelling to Würzburg
Würzburg is located in the center of Germany – and only a few kilometers away from the center of the European Union. This central location makes it fairly easy to reach Würzburg.
By airplane
If you plan to travel to Germany by plane the airport closest to Würzburg is Frankfurt/Main (FRA), which receives direct service from essentially all major airports within flying range. The train station located within Frankfurt airport offers fast direct connections to Würzburg main station with a minimum of one train per hour during daytime. Travel time is about 90 minutes.
An alternative, especially if flying within Europe, can be the airport of Nürnberg (NUE). Here, you will have to take the subway from the airport to Nürnberg main station and from there again there will be comparable service to Würzburg main station as from Frankfurt. Including the subway travel time is slightly shorter than from Frankfurt.
Also, other major German airports like Munich (MUC), Cologne (CGN), or Hamburg (HAM) have direct long distance trains connecting to Würzburg.
By train
Würzburg is at the intersection of major north-to-south and east-to-west railroads in Germany and therefore easily reachable by train. From many European major cities you will find direct trains or connections with just one change of trains. Your destination should always be Würzburg main station.
By car
Similar to the railroads Würzburg is also a major intersection of north-to-south and east-to-west autobahns (A7 and A3). Coming on the A7 from the north take exit 101 “Würzburg/Estenfeld”, from the south exit 103 “Kitzingen”. Coming on the A3 from the east take exit 72 “Biebelried”, from the west exit 70 “Würzburg/Heidingsfeld”. Alternatively simply entrust yourself to your navigation system 😉
